Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes

So there I am at E3 2012, totally impressed with Lego Lord of the Rings, but there was another Lego game that grabbed my attention - Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes. I am happily reviewing the Nintendo 3DS version of this game. Traveler's Tales knows what they are doing with the Lego franchise. They have expanded the Lego Batman franchise broader than I could have ever thought possible.

The storyline is interesting, involved, and kept me coming back for more. Bringing in Superman, Flash, Aquaman, Lex Luthor and many more characters is pure genius. It adds a depth to this franchise that goes beyond my wildest dreams. Speaking of additions - voice acting. FINALLY! It is awesome to hear voice acting in Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes.

The first thing many gamers want to know about Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes on the Nintendo 3DS is how are the graphics? They are impressive. I can not believe how good Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes looks on this little screen. The cut scene movies may not have all of the resolution of the home console versions, but it still looks really good. And the whole 3D thing is astounding. It adds additional depth to an already deep hand held video game.

Lego video games are known for their quirky little humor. Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes is no exception. It does go beyond previous games with the voice acting. Some of the lines in Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes are very humorous. I was laughing at different comments throughout Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes. I appreciate the depth of creativity put into this 3DS video game.

Are you familiar with the Lego video games? Or at least familiar with the library of reviews Family Friendly Gaming has done on these games? If not, let me explain about Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes. We first play through levels in the story mode. We collect studs to purchase additional characters and other unlockable items. Then we can pick a team to try and unlock everything in free mode. Why is free mode important? Well, in most levels there are things that can only be unlocked by characters with certain skills. And you won't have them in story mode.

Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes is very good about giving visual clues, and clues on the bottom screen if you hit the little 'i' button. If you miss them then you can expect some frustration. I ran into this in a few parts of this game. I also know two skills that are extremely important in Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes. First, destroy everything you can. Why? Certain things that need to be built are hidden inside other objects. Second try the powers of the suits both characters have equipped. Many times one of them will have a skill that will help you progress. The final tip I have is to see if you can use a Batarang on anything.

I am very impressed with Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes on the Nintendo 3DS. This comes very close to the home console experience, but is on a hand held. A hand held that just happens to be in 3D. The improvements in Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes are leaps and bounds above the previous games. I hope the same can be said for Lego Lord of the Rings.
