Kinect Star Wars
SCORE: 78
Star Wars geeks drooled over the idea of a
Stars Wars game on the Wii. They were let down by what they got. Then
they saw a ray of light with the Kinect on the Xbox 360. Imagine
swinging your arm around like you were holding a light saber with one
arm, and throwing force powers with the other hand. The question asked
is this: "does Kinect Star Wars give those fan boys what they want?"
I will try and answer that question as well as help our millions of
readers determine if Kinect Star Wars is family friendly or not. Will
this Kinect title hit both of those out of the park? Or go one for two?
The final option is miss everything. Everyone in the industry has an
opinion. This is my review, and my opinion. Pull out that light saber,
and resist the dark side.
Kinect Star Wars is broken into different parts. There is the main game
where you play as a young Jedi, then there is Pod Racing, Rancor
Rampage, Galactic Dance-Off, and light saber dueling. The more you play
in Kinect Star Wars, the more you will unlock. C3-PO and R2-D2 will
guide you through the archives - which is how we select the games we
play.
Kinect Star Wars looks amazing. I can not believe how realistic this
home console game looks. This is from Yoda, to the space battles. Bear
in mind there is a lot of violence in Kinect Star Wars. We dismantle
robots with those light sabers with the greatest of ease. Humanoid
characters show yellow lines where you did damage. This is nice because
it stops the blood and gore. It helps Kinect Star Wars be approachable
by more members of the family. Please pay attention to the thirteen and
older only rating on Kinect Star Wars. Use that as a starting point.
There are also certain female characters dressing in an enticement to
lust way. Especially in the dancing portion of this game. And yes
dancing feels weird in Kinect Star Wars.
Some of the voices in Kinect Star Wars are spot on, and others are not
quite right. I know this may be a minor thing in some people's opinion,
but I would rather Mace Window not be in the game as opposed to having a
different person do the voice. There is some language issues in Kinect
Star Wars. Pay close attention to the songs in this Xbox 360 Kinect
game. The music is standard Star Wars that fans will recognize and
enjoy.
Older members of the family that purchase Kinect Star Wars will find
hours of replay in it. There are various achievements, as well as a
lengthy story. Weeks can be spent on playing through all of the portions
of Kinect Star Wars. This Xbox 360 game also provides all kinds of
different things. Do you like being a Jedi? Covered. Is Pod Racing your
thing? Covered. Want to do light saber duels? Covered. Want to dance
with Star Wars characters? Covered. Kinect Star Wars uses the shot gun
approach by hitting all kinds of different areas.
The controls in Kinect Star Wars give players a work out. I am deadly
serious about this. Don't expect to get fat from playing Kinect Star
Wars. I had to jump, swing my saber around, use the force, and more in
Kinect Star Wars. This Xbox 360 game got me up and moving around. I was
exhausted after playing Kinect Star Wars. The time has come Padawan to
answer the first question. The controls in Kinect Star Wars are awesome.
I was swinging with one hand, stepping forward to come flying forward,
and throwing my other hand forward to throw force blasts. I would
deflect blaster fire with one hand, and use the force to grab an enemy
and throw them out a window into space. Star Wars geeks will love how
this game controls. Kinect Star Wars is the closest thing to the real
thing (which is a fantasy thing).
Families should know there are certain issues in Kinect Star Wars. The
violence is the first one. It does get repetitive. I faced many of the
same enemies over and over again. The enticement to lust is another
issue. The final issue is the language problems. Kinect Star Wars earns
its 'T' rating. Which is a shame because millions of kids under thirteen
like Star Wars and will be interested in this game.
I enjoyed my time with Kinect Star Wars. The experience is astounding. I
felt like I was a Jedi thanks to Kinect Star Wars. Microsoft has
produced a game that hardcore gamers will talk about for years to come.
Those waiting for a realistic Star Wars game, can stop waiting. Their
time is now. I know the whole force issue in Star Wars is highly
controversial. I wanted to bring it up for those who are not aware of
it. It has become a religious belief for some people. A way
entertainment has impacted the real world.
