So there I was at E3 2012. I just sent Sam
to take a break. The music was thumping, people everywhere, games
everywhere, and I was in the Disney Interactive Studios floorspace for
our appointment. And I saw something that stopped me dead in my tracks.
What did I see? Just Dance Disney Party. Both Ubisoft and Disney had me
check out this wonderful family friendly title.
Just Dance Disney Party includes twenty-five new dances and
choreographs. Almost all of them are safe for kids. In fact to me Just
Dance Disney Party is an extension of the Just Dance Kids franchise. It
targets the younger members of the family. Adults are not left out
though, and can join in the fun.
If you didn't know Just Dance is huge. It is mega huge. When it comes to
the video game industry - Just Dance is the king of the dancing games.
There is no if, ands or buts about it. So taking Disney and mixing it
with Just Dance is brilliant. Families all over the world will be eating
this home console game up.
Family Friendly Gaming was provided Just Dance Disney Party on the Wii.
This home console game is also on the Xbox 360 Kinect. The Kinect has an
exclusive create mode where kids can create their very own music videos
and original dances. the Wii has an exclusive Balloon Mode where kids
can compete to get more items and points by shaking their Wii remotes.
Four family members can enjoy Disney classics, and Disney channel songs
in Just Dance Disney Party. There are songs from The Little Mermaid,
Bolt, Cinderella, The Muppet Show, Tangled, Camp Rock, Phineas and Ferb,
Shake it Up, Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and more.
Each song carries along with it a theme with the song it is based on.
Families will see scenery and characters from that franchise. Which for
me is part of the fun of Just Dance Disney Party. Words scroll across
the screen so up to four family members can sing along if they so
choose.
The special effects during certain parts of the songs are a real treat
for kids. My own thought they were doing something extra special in the
game, and it was rewarding them. I see one area of opportunity for
improvement in sequels to Just Dance Disney Party - more songs. I see
real opportunity here for this franchise to be even more amazing.
The best part about Just Dance Disney Party is the exercise. Kids get
all kinds of great exercise thanks to Just Dance Disney Party. Kids are
not the only ones because parents love to join in, and twist their hips
under the sea because everything is not as it seems.
