Jewel Master Cradle of Persia
SCORE: 94
I love the Jewel Master franchise.
Matching three of a kind, building resources, and growing an empire is
one of those concepts that hits home with me. The Cradle of Rome games
have been great. I was concerned about Jewel Master Cradle of Persia. I
worried that it would be just another clone without enough to
differentiate it.
Thank goodness my concerns were unfounded. Jewel Master Cradle of Persia
does enough to stand alone and apart. The whole Persian feel to this
Nintendo DS game is more than just name. It is in all aspects of Jewel
Master Cradle of Persia. It is not so different that it alienates fans
of the Cradle of Rome games.
Graphically I felt like I was starting out in the wilderness and growing
the Persian culture into an empire. The nomadic style of that era is
exhibited beautifully. All of the items in Jewel Master Cradle of Persia
are clear, and distinct. I found nothing in Jewel Master Cradle of
Persia while I was playing it that would enter the realm of offensive.
The ancient music in Jewel Master Cradle of Persia also makes me think
of that culture. Remember I said Rising Star Games gave this DS game the
Persian feel in more than name. Jewel Master Cradle of Persia is crystal
clear on what needs to be acquired to create the next building. We
acquire these items in the levels.
Strategy is a big part of Jewel Master Cradle of Persia. We can match
three all over the place. But we really need to have an intelligent
design as to what we target. Lets say we need food for the next
building. I will focus as much as possible in the next level to acquire
as much food as I can. I will also sometimes hold off on completing a
level so I can attain more resources.
Jewel Master Cradle of Persia follows the tried and true method of
having to match three on specific tiles. Normally that is every single
one. Chains and other kinds of blocking mechanism will shake things up
in Jewel Master Cradle of Persia. Having to get specific resources (as
previously mentioned) add a depth that few puzzle franchises have.
I am thankful that Family Friendly Gaming received a free copy of Jewel
Master Cradle of Persia for this review. I know my hubby spent a lot of
time and effort on covering this hand held video game. I am appreciative
of all of his time and efforts on this as well. He knows I like this
franchise. I hope you will check out Jewel Master Cradle of Persia. It
impressed me, and I believe it will impress you as well.
