Honeycomb Beat

I must apologize to all of our wonderful readers at Family Friendly Gaming. I meant to play and review Honeycomb Beat many, many moons ago. Things got in the way, and I eventually forgot about purchasing this Nintendo DS game. I am making it up to you. How? Honeycomb Beat is leading off the Reviews Section in this awesome issue. This puzzle game is bee free, so you don’t have to worry about getting stung. Honeycomb Beat can make your head hurt though.

The visuals in Honeycomb Beat are interesting. Part of this game feels like a music title, especially that top screen. The other part feels like a honeycomb puzzle game. The graphics on the top screen are something from a computer program while music is playing. The bottom is all puzzle action. There are various background themes that are unlocked as the player beats every ten levels.

I enjoyed the beats in Honeycomb Beat. They really add something to this game. Without that music Honeycomb Beat would be another run of the mill Nintendo DS puzzle game. That field is so crowded it is starting to look like a major college graduation. The special effect sounds go along with this game in wonderful ways. I did not find any offensive language while playing Honeycomb Beat.

I got Honeycomb Beat for a decent price some time ago. I checked and it has dropped even further in price. I feel that Honeycomb Beat is worth the price of admission .This hand held title contains enough levels to keep most gamers busy for a few weeks.

I really wish Honeycomb Beat had some kind of hint system. There are levels I can still not figure out. I have no idea where I am going wrong. I eventually gave up. It would have been nice after say ten failures in a row - that the game would give some kind of helpful advice. Maybe I am asking too much. But since Hudson Entertainment is out of business it is a moot request.

I would like to see sequels to Honeycomb Beat. I have no idea who owns the franchise now or if there is a possibility of a sequel. I learned to think about flipping tiles in all new ways. I almost forgot to mention how Honeycomb Beat plays. You flip one tile and all tiles that are touching it flip. This means you want everything to be white. Touching each tile that is yellow (or some other color) will not work. I enjoyed this Nintendo DS game.
