Game Party Champions
SCORE: 82
Game Party Champions is the first Wii U
game I have ever played. It is wonderful to see this franchise move from
the Wii to the Wii U. There are only eight arcade games in Game Party
Champions though. There is a story that families will find interesting.
A good friend encourages us to play these games.
The games in Game Party Champions range visually. Some look better than
others. Some of the games appear on the Wii U Gamepad and others show up
on the main television screen. It all depends on the game. Game Party
Champions contains Baseball, Hoop Shoot, Football, Ping Pong, Water Gun,
Skill Ball, Miniature Golf, and Air Hockey.
All eight mini games in Game Party Champions are playable from the
start. There are a few different modes that can be unlocked as the
player progresses through the game. Story mode requires the mini games
to be replayed multiple times against different computer opponents.
Their difficulty increases with each replay.
Game Party Champions is a mixed bag in a variety of ways. Air Hockey is
exhausting to play. We have to keep the stylus in contact with the Wii U
Gamepad touch screen. The computer has a bad habit of grabbing ahold of
the puck and moving it around. The longer the games took the more
exhausted my hand was.
I noticed a couple of graphical errors in Game Party Champions. I am not
clear why but certain things jumped or did not look right. The best
example was in Ping Pong. I would hit the ball to the right, and the
computer character would step over there. At that point the ball would
vanish into their body, and they would not even try to hit it. It gave
me points so I did not complain.
Football and Hoop Shot are all about getting the timing right. I learned
how to swipe at different lengths and speeds on the touch screen of the
Wii U Gamepad to get the ball to go the appropriate distance. Moving the
Gamepad around to line things up was another aspect of Game Party
Champions.
Game Party Champions uses the Wii U Gamepad in conjunction with the
television screen. So we do one thing on the Gamepad and watch what we
are doing on the television screen. The Baseball game where we are
hitting balls at a wall with different numbers is one of the most
interesting games in Game Party Champions.
