Defenders of Ardania
SCORE: 66
There are many tower defense games for
gamers to play. There are even some tower offense games out in the
industry. Have you ever played a tower offense/tower defense game? A
video game that is both. Defenders of Ardania is that game. This
reviewer has never before played a game that has both tower offense and
tower defense in it.
Defenders of Ardania has players build their defenses. That stops waves
of enemies from making it to your headquarters. Usually it looks like a
castle. Then you get to send out troops to attack the enemies castle.
Sometimes Defenders of Ardania has players attack other things like
mines for example. A great way to stop the enemy from sending
reinforcements.
Defenders of Ardania is completely obsessed with alcohol. The narrator
is constantly referencing it in some manner, way, shape, or form. His
voice acting is top notch. He does a wonderful job of explaining what
needs to be done, and asking the player for patience while instructions
are being given. Miss one and it could be level failed. Yes Defenders of
Ardania is one of those games that will tell you that you failed.
The graphics in Defenders of Ardania are tiny. Players can zoom in, but
a broader view is generally required. Characters die and fall down.
Their bodies vanish after a few seconds. The repeated violence can
cheapen the thought of life in this reviewers opinion. There are also
certain female characters who could have dressed better. The fantasy men
get to dress completely.
Defenders of Ardania will require thinking in two directions. There is
stopping their forces and sending your own. It is great how towers in
one area open adjacent areas. Certain tiles contain additional resources
which will assist in your cause. Players use magic in Defenders of
Ardania. There are offensive and defensive spells.
Defenders of Ardania is most assuredly a 'T' rated game. The obsession
with alcohol, bad language, and repetition of violence is not for the
squeamish. Nor is Defenders of Ardania for children. Adults can find
some online modes to compete against others, and see how they stack up
thanks to the leaderboards. Defenders of Ardania brings something new
and interesting to the industry. At times it can be challenging.
