CatDog Season 2 Part 1
SCORE: 64
Nickelodeon had some strange shows over
the years. CatDog is a prime example of this. This show has the front
half of a cat connected to the front half of a dog. Only one of them can
be in control going a certain direction at a time. They learn to work
together throughout their bizarre adventures in CatDog Season 2 Part 1.
The run time for CatDog Season 2 Part 1 is around four hours. These two
DVDs are broken out into ten episodes. The episodes are broken out into
two or three sub-episodes. I count a total of twenty-four cartoons in
CatDog Season 2 Part 1. Please pay attention that some of them are much
shorter than others.
Are you acquainted with Ren and Stimpy? Expect the same kind of art.
Characters will get bounced down stairs, go down the throat into the
stomach, and a variety of other disgusting things. It is taking the
Looney Tunes violence to a more anatomically correct place. From my
research CatDog pushed the envelope.
The intro theme music to CatDog Season 2 Part 1 is odd. It fits the
oddity of the show, and the oddity of the visuals. The voice actors also
feel extremely odd. It took me almost to the end of CatDog Season 2 Part
1 to find any humor. Showdown at Hole 18 is the funniest episode in
CatDog Season 2 Part 1. To be transparent it is the only episode I
laughed at. I do admit it took me some time to acclimate to this strange
show.
The storylines in the show also fit the off center nature of CatDog
Season 2 Part 1. In one episode they are worshiped as gods, and do not
even try to correct the natives. They become clowns, rock stars, beaten
up repeatedly by bullies, captain and first mate of a dumpster, steal
bones from a museum, allergic to certain animals, play baseball, and
more.
CatDog Season 2 Part 1 is not horrible. It is definitely an acquired
taste. Like I said I only found humor in one episode. I do give CatDog
Season 2 Part 1 points for being original. This show is like nothing I
have ever seen before, and will hopefully ever see again. Fans of the
show will be thankful it is coming out on DVD. Shout Factory continues
to surprise us with their releases.
