Zoo Tycoon DS
SCORE: 82
There are some games that we keep around for a long time, and finally get to a review. I have played Zoo Tycoon off and on for years now. I bought it with the intent of writing a review. Other games that came in bumped this game down in priority. Finally I have gotten to play this game again, and finish it off. Zoo Tycoon does a good job of letting players get the feel of running their very own zoo. The PC gamers may be asking how good could a scaled down version of the micro management game be. Much better than I was expecting. I got to create areas for animals, put them in there, add concession stands, bathrooms, and have people pay money to see my zoo. After playing Zoo Tycoon I think I could help my local zoo with administration. In reality they have to deal with environmental wackos, and office politics as well so I will just continue to review video games.
I am very disappointed with the details in Zoo Tycoon. Animals look like animals but they are so small that it is a strain to see things. Zoo Tycoon contains diversity of color as grass, water, and rocks all look different. There are pictures of animals that are nice to look at.
The sounds in Zoo Tycoon are nice and add something to this hand held video game. The instructions this game gives players is fantastic. I absolutely love how Zoo Tycoon took me through how to do things. It was rare for me to be confused about what needed to be done. Zoo Tycoon helped me learn about animals and that is a good thing.
If you get into Zoo Tycoon then you will find a ton of unlockable content. The customization in Zoo Tycoon will keep gamers coming back for more. The more I played, the more I unlocked. I purchased Zoo Tycoon a few years ago for a decent price. I feel that this Nintendo DS game is worth the money. The only catch is there is a sequel and you may want to skip this game and go straight to the sequel.
Certain aspects of Zoo Tycoon are very easy to interact with. Other aspects had a learning curve. I had problems with removing things like rocks. This became important when the animals were not happy with their environments. This game told me what needed to be done, and I had to experiment with how much or how little.
Zoo Tycoon teaches families management skills. This is important for every single person who is reading this. If you currently do not need that skill, you will in the future. I also learned to get things right, and pay attention to detail. I look forward to future installments of this franchise. Zoo Tycoon is safe for families.
