The Smurfs Dance Party
SCORE: 90
Just Dance has exploded into a franchise
that families love. What could Ubisoft possibly do with the franchise
next? Before Just Dance 3 is released, of course. They came up with The
Smurfs Dance Party. Wait, what? The Smurfs? They are making a comeback
in 2011 thanks to a new movie in theaters. So why not give them the
Chipmunks kind of treatment? Why not indeed.
Graphically the Smurfs look better than every before. The dance moves
are safe for families, although some are more difficult to perform than
others. This Wii game includes a rating system to let families know how
difficult the songs are. The story is told in a neat way, and there is
very little violence shown. I expect the movie to include much more than
The Smurfs Dance Party.
I used to watch The Smurfs when I was a little girl. I really loved that
show. So for me it is great to see them make a comeback. Many of the
songs in The Smurfs Dance Party are variations of other known songs with
a Smurf twist. The best example is "Who Let the Smurfs Out." There is
also an updated theme song, which is great. My hubby loves the "More
Than A Name" song. I will have to try and find it on iTunes for him. The
Smurfs Dance Party does include some lyrical issues. I would suggest
your family looking over the twenty-three songs and making a
determination.
The biggest surprise for me in The Smurfs Dance Party is the
achievements. There are awards given for certain accomplishments.
Nothing like missing so many and getting a Clumsy award. There are eight
chapters in the story mode so it can be beaten pretty quickly. After
that there are additional songs to play, exercise to achieve and
different modes.
Speaking of different modes (nice little segway eh), The Smurfs Dance
Party has a few that will keep you entertained. The shake and freeze
mode gave many of us fits here at Family Friendly Gaming. I love how The
Smurfs Dance Party keeps track of the various stats, and how we get
exercise while playing it. The Smurfs Dance Party is one of those games
that appeal to all ages. All of here are thankful for receiving a copy
of The Smurfs Dance Party for this review.
The biggest lesson I learned from The Smurfs Dance Party is to get up
and exercise. This is a great lesson. The Wii game also teaches that
family is very important. That rings a bell here at Family Friendly
Gaming. We love it when games encourage a strong family. I hope there
are sequels to The Smurfs Dance Party in the future. This is a great
game for everyone.
