Supermarket Mania

Time management games come in all shapes and sizes. Supermarket Mania may be one of the most difficult time management games I have ever played. We will get to that in a little bit. Players take on the role of Nikki. Her job is to keep the store clean, and the merchandise stocked. The concept is interesting enough, and it promotes good hard work. My main problem with Supermarket Mania is the controls. Yes I am itching to get to that part of the review, but have to be patient. There is a lite version for families that want to try this iPhone/iPod Touch game before they buy it.

The comic book style of story telling impressed me in Supermarket Mania. Nikki’s tight attire surprised me. I like the color scheme in Supermarket Mania. The biggest problem I have with the graphics in this handheld game is how small everything is. This leads to control issues. I promise that is coming up very soon. The whole robotic nature of management in Supermarket Mania was a little strange. I appreciated how short the shift is for workers. Too bad more employers do not learn that lesson.

The music is pretty cool in Supermarket Mania. I also like the message of working for your money. Too many in our culture have an entitlement mentality, and expect to be given something for nothing. I did not find any offensive language while playing Supermarket Mania on the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Time management games are normally addicting. Due to the control issues, I never got into Supermarket Mania. I replayed certain difficult levels until I just gave up. Supermarket Mania does not do the greatest job of training the player either. Supermarket Mania brings nothing new to the time management genre, so it is just another game in an ever growing list.

I ran into issues with the controls in Supermarket Mania over and over again. It really got to me trying to touch on a piece of trash, and getting a bin instead. I would press the right spot time after time. No matter how calm you are, that eventually gets to you. It got to me, and I eventually lost my cool at Supermarket Mania. Instead of having fun, this game stressed me out, and made me angry.

I wish the controls had been better. If they had been the lessons about working hard for the money would have sky-rocketed this game to the upper echelon. If you want to try Supermarket Mania, then do so on another platform. I can see this working on the PC, Wii, and DS.
