Save Yammi

As I sit down to write this review, I am thinking of three companies who consistently produce high quality apps on the iPhone/iPod Touch platform. Bulkypix is one of those three companies. Save Yammi may be the strangest name for a game I have seen in a long time. Hopefully the name will stick out because this physic puzzler is high quality. I am very thankful Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code for this app.

The graphics in Save Yammi are bright and colorful. Your cookie rolls around collecting golden stars. Once it has three stars it can go to Yammi and he will eat it. The most violent image I saw in Save Yammi is the cookie gets destroyed. I refrained from a cookie crumbles comment. Your little octopus Yammi will show disappointment when you fail. Which for me was quite often. At times I knew what to do, but getting the timing was a challenge.

The music in Save Yammi is very pleasant. I found myself humming along while trying to get those three stars on the cookie. The special effect sounds brought a smile to my face - usually because it meant I got a star. There is something about getting gold stars that goes back to elementary school. That and smiley faces from the teacher.

Save Yammi costs ninety-nine cents, and you get one hundred levels. Please do the math with me. That means that each and every level in Save Yammi costs one penny, and you get one for free. I call that a good deal. Certain levels will require replay unless you are just a complete and pure genius. If you can beat every single level in Save Yammi the very first time, please email me. I want to talk to you.

The first surprise I got from this cute puzzle game is the physics. The rope does not stay taunt. In fact it bows the longer it gets. This means a rope drawn straight will not give the player all of the stars in a long line. I had to find ways to compensate for that, and draw the rope differently. Once Save Yammi brings clouds into the game, expect some new challenges. Save Yammi is not an easy game. Do not expect to blow through it in a few hours. Which is a good thing because this game got me thinking in new and different ways.

Save Yammi teaches basic physics as well as how to overcome obstacles. Having to move the iPod Touch around to roll the cookie in different ways is a nice feature of this game. I would like to see sequels to Save Yammi in the future. It was a real pleasure to play and review this game. Families have a new physics puzzler to occupy their iPhones and iPod Touches.
