Rock Band Country Track Pack 2
SCORE: 76
I like country music, so I was very happy
to get the opportunity to review Rock Band Country Track Pack 2. Our
friends over at Harmonix provided Family Friendly Gaming a reviewable
copy of this track pack on the Xbox 360. There are twenty-one country
songs on this pack, and it is currently selling for around thirty
dollars. I ran into a few issues with this disc, and I will get into
that in just a minute.
The graphics in Rock Band Country Track Pack 2 are different. The rock
stars did not really fit as country artists in my opinion, and I could
not adjust them. Well at least when putting the disc in and playing the
Rock Band Country Track Pack 2 by itself. Once I got it into Rock Band 3
I could use my normal band. The music ranges, and I would recommend your
family check the songs. I found some on this listing that are generally
well known and well liked (Ring of Fire). Merle Haggard, Shania Twain,
Rascal Flatts, and more are represented on Rock Band Country Track Pack
2.
I can understand that looking at the price, and numbers of songs can
lead some to say Rock Band Country Track Pack 2 is not worth the money.
There are not many songs in the main Rock Band games that appeal to me.
So twenty-one songs where there are more in this pack that I like than
in the eighty-plus of say Rock Band 3 says a lot. I sang more songs in
Rock Band Country Track Pack 2 than I have sung in Rock Band 3, and I
will work on these songs longer. So for me, there is more of a replay in
these songs.
I mentioned earlier in the review that I put the game in, and tried to
start playing. It did not recognize my Lips microphone, so I read it
could accept normal USB microphones. Those did not work either. I then
wound up using the download code to download the five hundred plus meg
to the Xbox 360. I then was able to use them with my Lips microphone
just fine. I found it odd that putting this in, did not play like Rock
Band 3. I am not sure what that is all about. I am also not sure why it
couldn't take the songs off the disc, and put them into Rock Band 3
without the download. These are minor quibbles, but issues I ran into.
Rock Band Country Track Pack 2 teaches various lessons. The lyrics in
the songs teach different things. My first born quickly picked up on who
was the real murderer in the "Night the Lights Went out in Georgia." I
really enjoyed the moral lesson in songs like "Mama Tried," and "Single
White Female." I like the idea of specialized tracks that bring a lot
more to the main franchise. I would like to see some fantastic Christian
rock theme based packs.

{UPDATE}: From the developer - CTP2 is built on the RB1 engine, so Lips mics aren’t compatible.
