Labyrinth

Back in 2008 Family Friendly Gaming
released a review online for a Nintendo DS game from UFO Interactive.
The name of the game? Labyrinth. We are now in 2011, and Family Friendly
Gaming has been given a reviewable copy of Labyrinth from Mentor
Interactive. This hand held video game is drastically different from the
UFO Interactive game that shares the same name.
The graphics in Labyrinth are a little small. The game is played on a
grid. Players add a new piece which moves the row or column. There are
various items that need to be collected. The biggest issue I had was
telling what some of them were since they are so small. There is some
mild violence in Labyrinth. The main characters father gets kidnapped
and it is up to the player to go on a quest for the bad guys.
Labyrinth includes music that fits the theme in a professional manner. I
enjoy listening to the music in Labyrinth. The special effect sounds
also fit the theme of this Nintendo DS game. The whole mythological
aspect of this hand held title is interesting, but at the same time felt
weird. I appreciate the main character trying to help out his family. I
just wish he would have immediately involved the police.
Up to four family members can enjoy Labyrinth in both single card, and
multi-card modes. There are also enough levels to keep most family
members busy for a few weeks. It is my opinion that Labyrinth is worth
the price. The one caveat to that statement is you need to enjoy how
Labyrinth plays. The competitive nature of Labyrinth will appeal to lots
of people.
I spent most of time in Labyrinth competing against computer controlled
characters. They can be very irritating as I tried to get to certain
treasures. Other times I could plan a few moves and really enjoyed
having things fall together in my favor. This made me realize that
Labyrinth can be extremely random. The other player can really mess you
up, or help you.
Labyrinth will make you think about how to get to your next destination.
It took me a few tries to completely understand the various strategies
in Labyrinth. At times I felt like the complexity was beyond me. Other
times I got it right off. This goes back to the random nature of this
game. Some will love it, and others will not be so impressed. I would
like to see sequels to this franchise especially if I did not always
have to compete against other characters.
