Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes
SCORE: 82
When Paul first told me about Jack and the
Beanstalk on the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch I was really excited. This is
another great learning book that our youngest son could enjoy and use to
learn how to read. When I tried to find it confusion ensued. Let me help
our readers out there. The full game name is Jack and the Beanstalk by
Mindshapes. Yes you need the 'by Mindshapes." Once you get over that
hurdle you can start to enjoy this book.
The graphics are really neat. They have a modern look and feel to them.
There are some slight animations here and there that enhance this
electronic children's book. There are a few slight mini games that
relate to the beanstalk. I am not even sure they are a mini game, more
like an interactive portion of a book. I found no offensive images while
using Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes.
The voice acting in Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes is good. I
enjoyed the narrator, especially when he would do voices of other
characters. The music enhances Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes. If
you want to read Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes by yourself then
you can do that as well, and leave the narrator behind.
The price is fair for Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes. The book is
short, but it can be read again and again. In fact you may get tired of
hearing it. I have not yet, but in a few weeks I am sure I will be
wanting our youngest to read something else. You can skip to any page in
the book that you want to in case you do not want to read the entire
thing.
I have one complaint about Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes. This
educational app has a loading screen in between each and every page.
Other electronic books I have used let the user flip between pages
quickly. This loading screen is the one drawback to Jack and the
Beanstalk by Mindshapes. This is still a very usable product.
The end of Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes has an interesting
little twist. Jack shares his wealth with everyone. This is a wonderful
lesson in charity. The down side to Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes
is it teaches to steal from the wealthy. Don't work hard to attain
wealth, just steal from someone else. I can see a particular political
party falling in love with Jack and the Beanstalk by Mindshapes.
