I Spy Castle
SCORE: 89
I Spy is celebrating twenty years. That is
impressive. I want to congratulate them on such a wonderful longevity.
Scholastic has proven that families enjoy this style of game play. There
is something almost magical about looking for hidden images within an
image. I Spy Castle on the Nintendo DS is one of the best I Spy games
ever.
I can see what Scholastic is prepping for the Nintendo 3DS with I Spy
Castle. The multiple layers of images on many of the images in I Spy
Castle is what leads me to that statement. No I have not been told
anything officially or even off the record. I can just see things
sometimes and I am convinced a Nintendo 3DS I Spy game is in the works.
I Spy Castle takes players on a fun, fascinating, and fresh exploration
of a castle. Wait! Before you run off and think that is boring let me
drop one bomb - dragons. That is right I Spy Castle is steeped deep in
dragon lore. Players find a dragon's egg and have to try and hatch it.
How? By finding hidden items in twelve castle images. These are
different rooms filled with all kinds of stuff.
I Spy Castle includes some interesting little mini games as well.
Players connect the dots to build a tapestry, or jump a frog around on
lily pads. There are plenty of more things in I Spy Castle like starting
the egg incubating machine to hatch the dragon egg, and keeping flies
out of a disgusting looking stew. The mini games break up the object
finding puzzle action in a good way.
The voice actor in I Spy Castle is awesome. I really enjoyed his voice.
He does a wonderful job of assisting the player throughout the game. I
also enjoyed the whimsical mystery style story. The history of the
castle is a nice diversion that encouraged me to dig deeper. I wanted to
see where this story would take me. The pursuit was well worth the time
and effort.
Family Friendly Gaming was provided a reviewable copy of I Spy Castle.
We are very thankful, and hope our millions of readers will prayerfully
consider this product. I feel it is worth the price. I Spy Castle is one
of those games that can assist you in improving your perception, and
finding missing items. Who doesn't need that when they lose their car
keys or the television remote?
I love how easy it is to control I Spy Castle. The game has a hint meter
that builds as the player works on a level. If you get stuck you can
have the game point out where an item is. I usually saved it right until
the last item was left, and then used it. Moving around via the touch
screen or the control pad worked fine. I did notice a few times I tried
to touch an item and the image reset me somewhere else. This was a
little odd, but only worthy of a mild mention.
I really appreciate games like I Spy Castle making it to the market. It
gives families a choice of a good game for their children. I can see
parents enjoying I Spy Castle as well. I would like to see sequels to
this game in the near future. It was a real pleasure for me to play and
review I Spy Castle on the Nintendo DS.
