Gobliins 2
SCORE: 77
Normally I do a good job of hooking up
talented reviewers with products they are good at reviewing. If someone
is an expert in a certain thing, they will get the call to come in the
game. As they run in from the bullpen, I know the right choice was made.
I am however only human, and prone to make mistakes. Long time readers
know I will come clean on those mistakes. I made a mistake with the
choice of reviewers for Gobliins 2. That will be corrected in sequels.
So until that time, please bear with me.
I struggled playing Gobliins 2. This is a point and click kind of
adventure where the player uses Goblins. Yeah it is as weird as it
sounds. I can't really say they are lovable, but they have a lot of
character and animation. Especially for the iPod Touch. The polish and
shine in Gobliins 2 is a drastic improvement from the first game. Yes I
still need to get a review written for that one. Again I am not perfect.
There is some cartoon violence, and crude humor in Gobliins 2.
The music is pretty good in Gobliins 2. I
enjoyed it, and there are various noises the characters make. The story
is told by characters who have their own kind of speak. Think of baby
talk, or the language of the Sims. The same kind of concept. The main
difference is their commentary was on the annoying side for me. There
are also some sounds that could also fit under the crude humor umbrella.
Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code for this ninety-nine
cent app. I am amazed at how long this game is for that price. I know
Nintendo does not like all these games on the iPod Touch, but it is
forcing them to be competitive. Gone are the days of people have to
purchase my product because of who am. Gamers have gotten
intelligent with their purchase power. We have learned that we can have
fun for a much lower cost, and we are supporting those companies.
Gobliins 2 includes a deep array of hints. I needed them. In fact
Gobliins 2 humbled me greatly. I had trouble solving some of the puzzles
with the hints. The third level of hints spelled it out. Even with that
I had issues with application. This goes to my first paragraph because I
am not the right person to review a game like this. The style of this
game frustrated me. I have talked with others who are competent at this
kind of a game. They will be reviewing sequels.
Gobliins 2 makes players exercise their brains. The puzzles in this game
require a depth of thought, and depth of item interaction that my poor
brain was not connecting. Maybe I was tired. I honestly do not know. I
did learn various lessons like how to distract others to acquire items.
Those items are used to progress to the next screen. Gobliins 2 is one
of those games that can give your brain a dimensional shift in thought
patterns. There are some unethical requirements like trying to steal
from others.
