Globulos Mania
SCORE: 77
Globulos Mania is another port from a
Nintendo machine to the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. This time the Nintendo
DS. We have been noticing here at Family Friendly Gaming the migration
of games to this little hand held. Video game developers and publishers
are going where the people are. I am writing this review before Globulos
Mania goes live, so I am uncertain on things like price.
The graphics in Globulos Mania remind me of Club Penguin. The little
critters are fluff balls that help remind me of the Disney franchise.
These critters will bounce each other around with little to no violence.
Sort of like bumper cars without the whiplash. At least I never got any
whiplash playing Globulos Mania. While I played Globulos Mania ads would
come up on the top or bottom of the screen. This was annoying to say the
least.
The sounds in Globulos Mania are cute, fun, and friendly. They can get
repetitive, and it can get quiet while determining what you want to do.
Globulos Mania is ultimately much better when played with others.
Whether that is locally or across the Internet. The creatures in
Globulos Mania have personality, and will exhibit it with their sounds
as they slide around.
When I started playing Globulos Mania there were few of the games open.
It would let me purchase more. This model is something I have seen more
and more of lately. Games that claim to be free or low priced, but they
want to nickle and dime consumers to death. I understand this
micro-transaction methodology. I am not a fan or supporter of it. The
advertisements were also irritating. Wait did I mention that before?
The different games in Globulos Mania are interesting. There are twenty
game modes in Globulos Mania that can entertain family members of all
ages. The down side in my opinion is many of the games in Globulos Mania
feel the same. The control scheme is generally consistent. This can be a
good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective. Some of us here
at Family Friendly Gaming enjoyed the consistency. Others got bored.
The strategy elements of Globulos Mania are where the majority of the
lessons are. Players learn to control direction, speed, and angles with
Globulos Mania. This is an app that works to bring people together in a
mini game compilation. I am not aware of many other games like Globulos
Mania on the iPhone/iPod Touch or iPad. I would enjoy sequels especially
if the advertisements are removed.
