Bubble Bobble Revolution

For a long time I have been a fan of the Bubble Bobble series. I found Bubble Bobble Revolution for the Nintendo DS in a bargain bin, and decided to purchase it. Please read my review fully, and learn from my mistake. Bubble Bobble Revolution contains the original game, new power ups, hidden characters, and microphone usage. Four family members can enjoy Bubble Bobble Revolution, so it should be a winner right? Well wrong. Sadly, Bubble Bobble Revolution contains numerous bugs that destroy this hand held video game.

The shining star in Bubble Bobble Revolution is the bright graphics. There are a lot of different colors used in this Nintendo DS game. Some of the colors for menu screens are drab, but I did not spend as much time there. The original game shows its age visually, but what can any of us expect from an older game like that. Players can put the enemy in bubbles and watch them float away.

The music in Bubble Bobble Revolution is okay. I enjoyed some of the tunes, and others irritated me. The bubble making sounds in Bubble Bobble Revolution is one of those irritating sounds. The characters are similar enough that it can be easy to confuse them. Their main difference is what color they are.
On paper the replay value of Bubble Bobble Revolution should be extremely high. The problem is I found myself replaying the same buggy levels over and over again. It is one thing to have multiplayer modes, and over one hundred levels. It is a completely different thing if you can not get to all one hundred levels.

What is the point of all those levels if players will not be able to make them? The other problem is many of these levels are very similar. I feel that my money was wasted on Bubble Bobble Revolution. Please heed my advice and avoid this Nintendo DS game.
Multiple members of Family Friendly Gaming have verified the issues with Bubble Bobble Revolution. Certain levels are absolutely impossible to defeat. I do not mean difficulty, I mean they never let you progress. I did everything I was supposed to, and certain levels never trigger the end. Do you know how frustrating that is? Complete a level and the game leaves your character there. There are also areas where you can not get to where some of the bad guys are. I checked the manual, and the Internet. I did not have fun playing Bubble Bobble Revolution.

I really wanted to recommend Bubble Bobble Revolution. I just can’t. The lesson I learned out of Bubble Bobble Revolution is some things are impossible. I already knew that lesson, and did not need to spend money to have a refresher. Morally Bubble Bobble Revolution is pretty clean. Sequels really need to clean up the issues.
