Blobster Christmas
SCORE: 84
Chillingo has made an important move with Blobster Christmas. They
did not shy away from using Christmas. They did not offend the super
majority to avoid making a microcosm of the population uncomfortable.
They said this is a Christmas based game, and we will use Christmas. We
appreciate that deeply here at Family Friendly Gaming.
Ya'll may remember my review of the first Blobster game. I was not
overly impressed with the title. It had its moments, and got a decent
score. It was not something that screamed out at me though. Chillingo
heard me loud and clear. They made numerous improvements in Blobster
Christmas. First off being the festive theme.
Visually Blobster Christmas has a great look. There are many different
Christmas images in this hand held title. Things like ginger bread men,
snowflakes, red hats, presents and more. Blobster is trying to get the
presents back in Blobster Christmas. Yeah that bad guy acted like the
Grinch. He was trying to stop everyone from celebrating the birth of
Jesus Christ.
The music in Blobster Christmas makes me think of Christmas. This is the
best time of the year to play a game like Blobster Christmas. It was
neat for me to go from listening to Go Fish's Christmas album to a game
like Blobster Christmas. The music and special effect sounds warm my
heart. And yes I know that may sound a little corny.
There are twenty levels in Blobster Christmas. This seems short for the
ninety-nine cent price. However many of these levels are lengthy. My one
complaint is Blobster Christmas makes me start from the beginning after
any mistake. This is especially annoying when doing well for so long and
then make one mis-calculation.
The mistakes I made in Blobster Christmas were related to no guide being
there. Touching to the right makes Blobster move to the right, and
touching to the left makes him go left. Grabbing him and pulling a
direction will launch him in that direction. Blobster Christmas calls
this jumping. When you do this it is all guess work as to where you will
go. I died over and over again in some levels trying to discern the
right angle and pressure.
