Bejeweled 3

Paul surprised me recently with news of Bejeweled 3 on the Xbox 360. Not only did he have the news item on this puzzle game published. He also had requested a reviewable copy. He knows how much I enjoy the Bejeweled franchise. I have this game on about every system I play on. So I was excited to see what PopCap Games did with it on the big green machine. My little nickname for the Xbox 360.

The jewels are HUGE! I mean it too. The special effect graphics can light up your life as well. I loved the different special effects. They reminded me of Walls of Jericho. The background screen look great. It sparked a debate here whether that was a ship or a floating island. The different ways to play Bejeweled 3, brought different animations. They were all pulled off marvelously.

The voice in Bejeweled 3 is very distinctive. Paul told me that it sounded like the guy from Mortal Kombat. I don't know about that because I do not play those kinds of games. I prefer games like Bejeweled 3. I would rather think about what to match next, and to get to the next level. Getting massive combos helped me earn different badges. Which I am proud of. Too bad I can't print them or have them mailed to me or something.

The more you play Bejeweled 3 the more you unlock. This is really cool because we got to see the creativity of the game designers. I am amazed at some of their ideas. The Ice mode is insanely hard. But the Quest mode is really cool. Zen is endless. At least it felt that way. I gave up at one point because I could never seem to produce no more moves.

The controls on the Xbox 360 feel clunky. I must admit I am not a fan of the controller on the Xbox 360. This made moving tiles feel slow. Otherwise Bejeweled 3 is a great game. I learned to quickly match the gems. Getting more than three will produce a more powerful gem. They can explode, or shoot electricity vertically and horizontally from the gems point.

The one danger of Bejeweled 3 is it is addicting. You can literally waste hours playing this game. I would recommend that you get all of your chores done first. Then play a game like Bejeweled 3. There is nothing worse that going to bed late, and realizing you forgot to do important life stuff. I am very impressed with where this franchise is going. Bejeweled 3 is a great addition to the Bejeweled family.
