Arcade Pool & Snooker
SCORE: 79
Arcade Pool & Snooker is a PSP Minis game
which means it has to be downloaded, and then is played on the
Playstation Portable. This game is all about pool. Players shoot the
right balls into the holes. The order the balls are hit is very
important. You will see what I mean about that in just a wee bit. Sorry,
practicing me Irish. The biggest lesson in Arcade Pool & Snooker is
geometry, or angles.
The pads in Arcade Pool & Snooker look okay, the human beings look a
little stiff. But the real action in Arcade Pool & Snooker is the pool
tables. The balls and tables looks fantastic in Arcade Pool & Snooker. I
enjoyed the animation in the breaks. I also noticed some pixelation in
Arcade Pool & Snooker when it was transitioning between views. I enjoyed
the table view the most.
The music in Arcade Pool & Snooker is very mellow, and light. At first I
thought Arcade Pool & Snooker was a very silent game. Then I turned my
sound up and realized there was music playing. The sound effects for the
pool cues and the balls is very realistic. That is probably one of the
best parts of this quiet game. It can relax you, or stress you out - all
depends on how well you are doing.
Icon Games is great about modes. There are numerous modes in Arcade Pool
& Snooker. Plus there is a multi-player modes in this handheld video
game. I was given a free download code for Arcade Pool & Snooker for
this review. I do feel that Arcade Pool & Snooker is worth the money as
long as you are into pool and/or billards.
I have played various pool video games over the years. Many of them
provide useful visual guides to show where the ball is going to go.
Arcade Pool & Snooker does not do that. Which means you have to eyeball
it. This does not always work out to the player's advantage. The good
news is the computer controlled characters make mistakes which grant the
player more than one opportunity to get it right.
The biggest lesson I learned from Arcade Pool & Snooker is how to plan
the proper angles to get one ball to hit another ball so it would go
where I want it to. I also learned that full force is not always needed
in certain situations. Having the right touch in Arcade Pool & Snooker
can be very important. I would like to see a sequel to this game
especially if a guide is provided as to where my ball is going to go.
