Sonny with a Chance
SCORE: 85
Sonny with a Chance on the
Nintendo DS is a breath of fresh air. This hand held video game is a lot
like Mario Party DS. Four players compete in a board game trying to get
the most fan mail. There are certain squares that are mini games and all
four players can try and win the most letters. I was not expecting this
kind of a video game for this franchise. It is a party game after all.
There are a wide array of vibrant colors used in Sonny with a Chance.
The characters look similar to their real life counterparts. The graphic
style makes them look like bobble heads. The good news is it negates any
potential for enticement to lust. The details are so-so in this Nintendo
DS game. I have seen better and I have seen worse. Sonny with a Chance
contains some mild violence characters can do things like bump one
another in certain mini games.
The music in Sonny with a Chance really fits the theme of this game. It
made me feel engaged, and excited to complete the board. The sounds in
Sonny with a Chance are crisp, clean and clear. There is some comedy in
this hand held game, but it is not to everyone's taste.
Sonny with a Chance contains over forty mini games, and five different
boards. Single card download play can allow you to bring in up to three
of our friends. Sonny with a Chance has DGamer content, which will
thrill a lot of family members. On top of that there are a nice amount
of unlockable items in Sonny with a Chance.
The overwhelming majority of the mini games control fantastically in
Sonny with a Chance. There were a few here and there that require
special attention. Turning a walking character by tilting the Nintendo
DSi is one such example. Sonny with a Chance gives instructions on how
to compete in each mini game. There is also a short sample of the mini
game shown. Expert gamers can rejoice that those can be quickly skipped.
Yes Sonny with a Chance is a Mario Party DS clone. Which is okay with
Family Friendly Gaming, mainly because it is such a good clone. There
are a lot of whacky things that go on in this game. Like getting invited
to a party, and going to a small secret section of the board where there
are better squares. Sonny with a Chance taught me to get the most fan
letters, and win the most mini games.
