Phineas and Ferb Ride Again
SCORE: 84
Phineas and Ferb Ride Again is the second Nintendo DS game from
Disney Interactive Studios based on the animated television show. These
two stepbrothers go on fantastic quests to build things. They earn cool
gadgets as the game progresses, and play mini games to help them create.
Their sister is constantly around protecting them from themselves and
danger. She will run to mom to keep the boys out of trouble. When the
players get hurt enough they have to avoid her in a small Pac-Man style
of maze level. Avoid her successfully and its right back to the level.
The art style in Phineas and Ferb Ride Again is not my thing. At times
the boys look like they only have one eye. There are a fair amount of
colors. Phineas and Ferb Ride Again contains some mild violence in
certain levels. The degree of non-violence in this action adventure
video game is actually very impressive. As is the theme of creating new
things.
The sound bytes in Phineas and Ferb Ride Again were a welcome surprise.
They have some goofball voices in my opinion, but that fits the theme.
The music in Phineas and Ferb Ride Again is cool, and the special effect
sounds are fantastic. The whole tattling issue is a major part of this
franchise. Some absolutely hate the sister, and others understand her
motherly instincts. The boys are generally respectful.
The length of the main story in Phineas and Ferb Ride Again will keep
most gamers busy for a couple of weeks. There is a good amount of DGamer
content in Phineas and Ferb Ride Again as well. Family Friendly Gaming
was given a reviewable copy of this game. The way this Nintendo DS game
keeps things fresh makes it worth the money for kids in my opinion.
The mini games in Phineas and Ferb Ride Again are okay. I was not
interested in replaying them. The true genius behind Phineas and Ferb
Ride Again is how it breaks up the action. Before I could get bored with
the action adventure section I was swapping characters for some
cooperative puzzle solving. Then I had to do a mini game to get
something. After finishing a world I got an entirely different kind of
level to play. Phineas and Ferb Ride Again keeps it totally fresh. I had
fun playing this DS game.
The main theme of building, and creating goes a very long way in Phineas
and Ferb Ride Again. I love how the boys are searching for items to
build something. This concept seems so simple, but too few games utilize
it. I am pleased to see Disney Interactive Studios made a sequel to the
original game. I hope to see more games in this franchise in the future.
It was my pleasure to play Phineas and Ferb Ride Again on the Nintendo
DS.
