Lego Indiana Jones the original adventures
SCORE: 57
I had heard a lot of great things about the Lego series, and noticed that no one at Family Friendly Gaming had reviewed the Playstation Portable (PSP) version of Lego Indiana Jones the original adventures. So I took the initiative to pick up a copy of this game and whip it, whip it really good. This game covers Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Temple of Doom, and The Last Crusade. Each of these movies contain multiple lengthy levels (more on that later). The Lego video games formula of two characters that have different abilities is included in this hand held video game.
Lego Indiana Jones the original adventures gave me a headache. The graphics are too dark too often, and that leads to some gameplay issues. If I can not see where items are until I am almost on top of them it increased the length of time I spent in each level. I had hoped for more humor in the animations. This is also a pretty explosive video game in terms of violence. I know these are lego blocks falling apart but combustion's are still violent.
The sounds in Lego Indiana Jones the original adventures contain plenty of classical Indiana Jones tracks. I enjoyed the music, but the special effect sounds irritated me. There is no voice acting, but a few grunts here and there. I do not recall any language issues in this PSP game.
LucasArts included quite a few extras in Lego Indiana Jones the original adventures. They generally do a good job in their Lego games. For some reason I did not enjoy unlocking content in this game like I have previous Lego games I have played. A lot of that has to do with the layout of Barnett College. I do not feel this PSP game is worth the price of admission, and the reason is given in the next paragraph.
The levels in Lego Indiana Jones the original adventures are way too long for a hand held video game. I do not enjoy spending 30 minutes or longer playing one level in a hand held video game. The game can not saved until after the level is completed. Kids are going to have problems with Lego Indiana Jones the original adventures, because as an adult I did. I also did not find this PSP game to be much fun.
In order to become a true adventurer
the player must destroy a lot of stuff. There are also a lot of places
where a lot of stuff must be destroyed in order to find the items to
build something in order to progress. Lego Indiana Jones the original
adventures feels more violent to me than other hand held Lego games, and
it bored me. A nice attempt that needs some work.
