Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time
SCORE: 83
Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time on the Nintendo DS is the first time I have heard of this franchise. The hand held game is based on the childrens novels. Since I have two boys, I have missed out on little girls books. That is okay though, because my two boys are wonderful. I have taken some time to research the franchise, and check out the dolls. Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time is part platformer, and part mini game compilation.
The visuals in Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time have a very distinctive and artistic flair to them. I have noticed there are two reactions to them. One is a smile, and the other is a frown. The visuals instantly threw me off my game, and it took me a few minutes to recover. Nancy has fun outfits that she can wear. Each of them grant her different powers. The rain suit lets girls walk through rain without losing items that were collected throughout the level.
I love the voice acting in Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time. The characters in this game have such wonderful things to say. They are always trying to help one another, and making the lives of the other characters easier. What little girl does not love a tea party? I remember having them when I was a little girl. This game hits the right chord there. Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time also teaches some very posh foreign words.
Family Friendly Gaming was given a reviewable copy of Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time. If I had a daughter this game would be perfect for her. So I feel Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time is worth the money for families with little girls. Mini games are unlocked as the player plays through the platformer levels. Items like stickers can also be found, and then used in the photo album later on. There is a shop in this game where stickers can be purchased. It matters how many items you collect in each level since they are the currency in this shop.
I love the various outfits, and how they give Nancy different skills. I am not too thrilled about the controls in Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time though. Nancy has an odd animation when she goes running over somewhere. I had trouble making certain jumps, and that has to do with the layout of the controls. Levels are pretty easy, but some of the mini games are more difficult. Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time is still a fun game for girls.
I appreciate THQ. Some may rant and rave about some of the games in
their library. They are reaching out to all genres, and all kinds of
family members. Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time is one of those games that
parents of little girls can look into. I hope there are sequels to this
franchise because this Nintendo DS game is a great starting point for a
fabulous series. I will be recommending Fancy Nancy Tea Party Time to
friends.
