Dora's Cooking Club
SCORE: 89
Take a little Dora the Explorer, mix in some educational video game play, stir in some cooking game action for children, and cook it on your Nintendo DS to get Dora's Cooking Club. Dora is in the kitchen (editor: with adults) making some dishes that are mini games. Some of these mini games are simple motions, whereas others are training in shapes, and numbers. Following directions is another lesson in Dora's Cooking Club.
The colors in Dora's Cooking Club contrast in a fantastic fashion. Tomatoes, green peppers, onions, and more have the right colors. Kids will need to learn knowledge of colors to get past certain mini games. The details in Dora's Cooking Club are okay, this is a kids game after all. They dress appropriately in this Nintendo DS game, and have friendly appearances.
Not only is there English directions and comments in Dora's Cooking Club, there is also a lot of Spanish. All of the characters in Dora's Cooking Club are very exciting, even when the player makes mistakes. The instructions in Dora's Cooking Club are mainly verbal so hearing is required to play Dora's Cooking Club. The celebration music after successfully completing a recipe is classic Dora the Explorer music.
Dora's Cooking Club includes over thirty mini cooking games. Parents can check the progress of their children in various learning skills like number identification, counting, shape recognition, pattern completion and measurement. When 2K Play tells you their games are Kid Tested, they are not kidding. Children can play this game, and really enjoy it. Dora's Cooking Club can be played in the right age range (Kindergarten to pre-K) for a couple of years.
My own son really enjoys playing Dora's Cooking Club on the Nintendo DS. The educational games are broken up by cooking games that keep him engaged. He is now interested in helping me cook thanks to this hand held video game. The games are very easy to complete, and there is no timer. Children can take their time completing mini games Dora's Cooking Club.
I adore video games that assist us parents in teaching our children
the skills they will need in life. Dora's Cooking Club does this in a
fun way with a cooking flavor. I was not sure if I wanted to say this or
not, but Dora's Cooking Club is Cooking Mama for kids. The learning
skills (previously mentioned) are the main lessons in Dora's Cooking
Club. This DS game also teaches kids the importance of cooking at home,
which costs less and is more satisfying that eating out. I hope to see
sequels to this game in the future.
