Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
SCORE: 94
There are some movies that bring me back to my childhood. Chitty
Chitty Bang Bang is one of those movies. When I was informed of a
Blu-ray DVD combo I requested to have Family Friendly Gaming put on the
review distribution. Our contacts over at MGM were kind enough to
oblige, and I am so glad they did. The memories that swirled around the
edges of my brain were all positive.
All of these years later I was able to share Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
with my own children. They now have memories of this fantasmagorical
motorcar. A racing car gets put out to pasture after it catches on fire
due to a pig and a little girl running out on the race track. Why were
they allowed out there? Well this is set in the early 1900s. People were
allowed much more freedom, and could get closer to the action. Less
rules, less regulation, and less laws in that era.
The scenery in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is breath taking. I love the
various areas, castles, inventor's lab, and more that are in Chitty
Chitty Bang Bang. The dancing in this movie is inspirational. I am not
able to do half of the moves they do. The characters attire in Chitty
Chitty Bang Bang is really good. The only issue I could see anyone may
have is the beach scene where a little boy does not have a shirt on. The
Hi-Def transfer mean Chitty Chitty Bang Bang does not show its age.
Our fine four fendered friend is part of one song that is still stuck in
my head. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has amazing music. There are so many
wonderful songs in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang that I do not know where to
start. The voices in this movie are absolutely extraordinary. They are
capable of hitting notes I can barely even comprehend. The characters
even the bad ones are respectful even when they are insulting someone
else. This level of class is rarely seen in current films.
This package of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang contain both the Blu-ray and
DVD. Remembering Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Dick Van Dyke is my
favorite special feature on these discs. The Sing Along feature from all
of the songs is the perfect bonus feature for a musical movie. Vintage
Featurettes, Photo and Vintage Advertising Gallery, and Sherman
Brothers' Demos are some more of the bonus features in Chitty Chitty
Bang Bang. This movie is one that can be enjoyed over and over again.
The menu screens behave admirably in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I loved
the story in this movie, especially all of the imagination that went
into a floating, flying, and driving motorcar. All ages of the family
really enjoyed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. This movie is from 1968, and is
145 minutes. In fact it has an intermission at a very critical point in
the story.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang promotes good, clean, and upstanding family
values. The inventor loves his kids, and takes wonderful care of them.
The woman who winds up his love interest behaves in a sensible and
respectful way. The children disobey at one point, and wind up in big
trouble because of it. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang also shows the importance
of allowing children in society, and what to do with an evil ruler. I
wish they would make more movies like this one. A sequel to this film
would be welcome as well.
