Caspers Scare School Spooky Sports Day
SCORE: 61
Families have known Casper the Friendly Ghost for many years now. Red
Wagon Games is hoping to capitalize on that relationship in Casper's
Scare School Spooky Sports Day on the Nintendo DS. The monster kids get
together for some ghoulish sports. There is creepy uppies, dragon egg &
spoon race, people chase, goal creeper, scare boarding, frog lob, and
gymnastics.
The details in Casper's Scare School Spooky Sports Day for the DS are
not that great. There are various areas of pixelation. It looks like the
Wii version was ported to the DS and scaled down. Casper's Scare School
Spooky Sports Day uses darker tones, and there are images in this game
that can scare children. Which is fascinating since it is targeted
towards children.
The sounds in Casper's Scare School Spooky Sports Day fit the theme.
Special effect sounds in the skate boarding game are fantastic. The Frog
Lob sounds were on the gross side in this reviewers opinion. A reading
ability is needed to read the instructions to the games in this Nintendo
DS video game.
There are seven mini games in Casper's Scare School Spooky Sports Day.
They are played in the monster world, and the flesh world. There is not
much difference between the two worlds either. The WMG beat Casper's
Scare School Spooky Sports Day in an hour. The dragon egg mini game is
the most challenging, but getting the high score is not difficult.
The reason the dragon egg mini game is the most challenging is the odd
controls. There is a spider on the egg, and he weighs it down. So touch
on the opposite of the egg. No problem right? Well the spider likes to
run all around, and pull swerves on the player. If that were not
annoying enough, there are pitfalls to notice and avoid on the top
screen. The other mini games control much better, however they are very
easy to beat.
Casper's Scare School Spooky Sports Day is not the Casper most parents
know. There are skeletons, zombies, vampires that join the ghosts. The
WMG was hoping for more realistic sporting events as well.
Concentration, and good sportsmanship are some of the lessons that
Casper's Scare School Spooky Sports Day can teach. A multiplayer option
is needed for any sequels.
