ATV Quad Kings
SCORE: 73
When I think of hand held ATV video games I think of ATV Offroad Fury
on the Playstation Portable (PSP). Well Storm City Games has graced
Family Friendly Gaming with a game that aims to take that title. ATV
Quad Kings may not have all the presentation of ATV Offroad Fury, but it
is a much more solid racing title. I really wonder what Storm City Games
could do if they ported ATV Quad Kings to the PSP. The goal of this hand
held video game is to get to the finish line first.
ATV Quad Kings is not the best game to look at. The graphics are pretty
bland, and the girls that serve as eye candy are lacking in details. I
am actually happy they are, because it negates the enticement to lust.
The water effects are muddy at best. The ATV vehicles themselves look
fantastic. The animation of the drivers look good too. The menu screen
show some interesting effects, but could use some work as well.
The rockish music in ATV Quad Kings really got me excited about racing.
There are some really neat special effect sounds in ATV Quad Kings as
well. My favorite was the sound when a new lap was starting. My only
gripe against ATV Quad Kings is the music can get repetitive if you are
playing for an hour or more straight.
ATV Quad Kings contains eighteen tracks in nine different locations.
There are three difficulty settings in four different circuits in the
world mode. On top of that there is a nice little customizable arcade
mode. I can see this game being worth the money for a lot of families.
My only complaint concerning ATV Quad Kings is there is no multiplayer
mode. I would have loved competing against others in this game.
The race tracks are fantastic in ATV Quad Kings. I had a blast racing
through the various curves, jumps, and water traps. The control scheme
in ATV Quad Kings works wonderfully. Taking hard curves is really easy
in this game. The touch screen controls are not used a whole lot in this
Nintendo DS game, but I barely noticed.
You are allowed to bump into other racers in ATV Quad Kings, however it
does little to help you. I also liked how there is no punching or
kicking other racers. This makes ATV Quad Kings a lot more realistic
than a lot of the ATV racing games on the market. ATV Quad Kings is not
the best thing to look at on the market, but it is one of the most solid
ATV racing games.
