The Island of Dr Frankenstein
SCORE: 81
The Island of Dr
Frankenstein is one of the strangest Wii games I have ever played. That
is saying a lot since I have played a wide array of Wii games. Players
take on the role of a mechanic on a floating island. Monsters got tired
of being hassled, so they created a floating island to stay away from
humans. A few humans came along for the ride, and decades have passed.
The island is slowly falling apart, or is there some sabotage going on?
The graphics in The Island of Dr Frankenstein are very bright and
colorful. The overhead view works for this game, and there are some
decent details. There are some images that caught my eye, like the legs
that were walking around. A mummy, werewolf, and spirit of Dr.
Frankenstein are also characters. Little vaporites are essentially the
bad guys. I really like how the player is going around helping others.
This involves a lot of running around the island, and cleaning up the
vaporites.
I found the music in The Island of Dr Frankenstein to be very pleasant.
It relaxed me, and perked up my interest in this Wii game. Frankie (the
character the gamer plays) goes out of his way to help others. The
tutorial to how to play The Island of Dr Frankenstein is done in an
interesting way. Talk to this character who has you talk to another one,
etc. The only aspect of this section that bothered me was talking to a
spirit in a bottle.
The Island of Dr Frankenstein contains sixty missions, and thirty
puzzles. Only one player can play this Wii game at a time, but there are
multiple saves. It takes around twenty hours to beat The Island of Dr
Frankenstein. There are some collectible items in The Island of Dr
Frankenstein, along with some interesting extras.
The Island of Dr Frankenstein has a different kind of a pace. The goal
is to complete missions, and keep the island clean from the vaporites.
They multiple, and too many cause problems. I suppose you could relate
this concept to Trouble with Tribbles. The Island of Dr Frankenstein
controls nicely with one exception. I had problems with the Steampack.
For some reason I would face one direction, and the character would turn
around and face the other way before turning it on. This did not always
happen, but enough times to irritate me.
Mechanics are people who deserve respect and recognition. I am very
happy to see The Island of Dr Frankenstein make it to market. This game
teaches about the hard work mechanics do every single day. Hiding away
because of persecution is another concept that is lightly in this Wii
game. I really would like to see a sequel to The Island of Dr
Frankenstein in the coming years. Maybe even when the island was first
created, and put up in the sky. The spirit in bottle was the only
concept that bothered me.
