Rune Factory Frontier

Rune Factory Frontier has made it into the Family Friendly Gaming forum. The WMG was given the privilege of reviewing this Wii home console video game. The main playable character had forgotten who he was, and a kind young girl helped him start new memories. She leaves suddenly, so he goes looking for her. When he finds her, she insists that he settle in the house next door (making her the girl next door), and to clean up the farm. So players get to till the land, sow seeds, build a barn, get animals, etc. There are also dungeons that can be explored. Those interested in marriage can romance the women, and eventually be able to ask for their hand.

Rune Factory Frontier is absolutely beautiful artistically. This Wii game looks hand drawn in almost every area. Pillars will go transparent so the player does not get lost on the screen. There are so many little things that were done so well in Rune Factory Frontier. There are women who entice to lust, and there is violence as monsters are hacked and slashed.

The music in Rune Factory Frontier is soothing in a way that the WMG appreciates. The intro song did nothing for this reviewer. So many of the characters want to help out, and offer assistance that the WMG found them a pleasure to be around (even if they are not real). There are characters who communicate with spirits so their is an eastern religious aspect to Rune Factory Frontier. Different women in the game like different things so that is an aspect of this game that is realistic.

Rune Factory Frontier has a lot to do. From growing crops, to fighting monsters, to finding a wife. The more I played Rune Factory Frontier, the more I found I could do. Only one player can play this Wii game at a time, so do not expect the whole family to be able to spend quality time.

The WMG has read the Family Friendly Gaming reviews on previous Rune Factory games, and knows there have been some tweaks in Rune Factory Frontier. The controls work, but do not utilize the Wii Remote very well. The stamina (Rune Points) have been improved from earlier games. The player can still run out, but usually not before noon. There is an addictive aspect to Rune Factory Frontier.

Starting a family is an awesome goal, and this game teaches that. The whole spirits thing comes later in the game, but one this reviewer wish had been left on the drawing board. Farming, and creating is an awesome lesson that Rune Factory Frontier teaches as well. The WMG would like to see sequels to this Wii game.
