Chicken Blaster
SCORE: 66
Chicken Baster is a rail shooter on the Wii. Players take on the role
of a chicken farmer whose birds have gone haywire and save the farm by
shooting these mad chickens. There are a lot of them too. The WMG would
go to a screen shoot the right number of birds, and then move on to the
next screen. Bosses would come at various intervals. Chicken Baster gets
progressively more difficult.
The graphics in Chicken Baster contain a lot of violence. The majority
of this game is shooting everything in site. The chickens will throw
eggs at the player, which will obstruct the view for a few seconds. The
details in Chicken Baster are okay, but there are a lot of graphics that
are recycled. There are some nice colors in this Wii game.
Chicken Baster contains a lot of shooting sounds. The second most used
sound is reloading of the gun. The music in Chicken Baster is okay. The
WMG did not start humming the music, nor did it irritate or annoy this
reviewer. The shooting sounds did fit the theme of Chicken Baster
perfectly.
The WMG wishes there was a more little replay value to Chicken Baster.
Two players can shoot as many of the chickens as they can, so there is a
multiplayer mode included. Most gamers can beat Chicken Baster in a
weekend (at the very most). The shooting action can get repetitive, so
more levels may not have been a solution.
Chicken Baster gave the WMG a headache. The camera could be a little
loose when the player was moving around the screen. Many of the chickens
repeat on the same screens, and there are certain areas the player stops
moving forward because of an obstacle. The first time the WMG ran into
this problem, there was the thought: "this game is broken." The WMG shot
all over the screen and eventually opened two halves of a barn door
(which allowed forward progress).
The chickens seem endless in Chicken Baster. The root cause of their
insanity spread fast and wide. The WMG learns to quickly identify flying
targets, and to blow them out of the sky. Not sure where in life this
training can be used though. In some ways Chicken Baster feels like a
sequel to Chicken Hunter. Unfortunately the apple has fallen far from
the tree.
