Nights Journey of Dreams
SCORE: 84
Sega has been known for quite a few magical, fun, clean, and safe video games throughout the years. Sure there have been some hits, and some misses, but Sega has not been that far behind Nintendo in that regard. Nights Journey of Dreams on the Nintendo Wii is high flying fun that is generally safe for the entire family. Players get to play Will ( a little boy), and Helen ( a little girl) as they dream. They merge with Nights to save the Nightopians. There is plenty of diversity in the levels of this game, and a lot of intelligent design to what the player needs to do in order to succeed.
I love all the different movies, and cut scenes found within Nights Journey of Dreams. I was drowning in acres of bright colors, and friendly characters while playing this on my Wii. Even the evil characters do not look offensive, or scary. The details are about average for this powered up Nights video game. There is some fantasy violence as enemies are disposed of by making circles around them.
The voice acting shows a lot of emotion, but I had the hardest time figuring out if Nights is male or female. Other characters call him ‘boy’ but his voice sounds feminine to me. The music is top notch in Nights Journey of Dreams. In fact it has a regal feel to it. I did not run into any offensive sounds.
The gardens not only grow, but I can visit other players through the Wi-Fi. There are a fair amount of secrets to unearth inside Nights Journey of Dreams. As long as a certain game play issue does not bother you, then this game is worth your hard earned dollars.
The only real issue I have with Nights Journey of Dreams is the directions the game gives. In the first river level I am told to get all the Nightopians, and to slow down in certain parts. The game did not tell me to complete the course in a certain amount of time. There are plenty of control schemes and some work way better than others. In fact using the Wii Remote was a lesson in frustration for me.
Nights Journey of Dreams
has a lot of thought provoking video game play. By that I mean the game
makes me think about how to solve a level, beat a boss, etc. The
violence is light, and only worth a mention. I would love to see sequels
to this game, especially if the directions are laid out plainly. The
difficulty of this game means it really is for the older members.
