M & M's Adventure
SCORE: 84
The M&M's have a problem at the factory right before Christmas, and
they have to fix it before they can go home. Obviously they are salaried
employees who are not paid overtime for hours worked after the lengthy
forty hour work week. So they go on this quest to get all the green
candies back. There are plenty of platformers on the Wii, but M&M's
Adventure is one of more interesting ones I have played.
The graphics in M&M's Adventure reminded me a lot of Larryboy and the
Bad Apple on the Playstation 2. There are a lot of bright colors in
M&M's Adventure, and the animations look better than I expected. There
is some mild cartoon violence, but it was way milder than in most
platformers. In fact enemies need to be avoided, and that goes over
extremely well here at Family Friendly Gaming.
M&M's Adventure has some neat music that fits the theme of this
platformer perfectly. There is some slothful attitudes by some of the
characters. One even ignores Jesus Christ to talk about the myth of
Santa Clause. I suppose with the commercial history of this particular
candy it should not surprise me. The sound effects for doing things like
finding the green candies, or being attacked by an enemy felt a little
off to me.
M&M's Adventure includes quite a few levels with one hundred and twenty
candies to collect. That 120 number seems pretty familiar for this kind
of a video game, but it grants quite a bit of replay value. Different
characters can access certain doors, so there are also some secrets in
that regard. Only one player can play this Wii game at a time. M&M's
Adventure comes at a bargain price, and I feel it is worth your hard
earned dollars.
Zoo Games included arrows to help the player figure out where to go next
in a level. This handy little feature helps gamers who are having
trouble figuring out which way to go next. The game starts out pretty
simple, but it gets a little more difficult as time goes on. I had a lot
of fun playing M&M's Adventure, and had no problem whatsoever with the
controls. In fact M&M's Adventure borrows from a lot of great
platformers making it an enjoyable experience.
Fixing a bug is one of the lessons I liked in M&M's Adventure. I also
found the team work to be great as different characters passed the torch
on to others. I have experienced jobs in my life where I was expected to
do everything no matter how many hours it takes. This abuse has left
scars, and that is why I appreciate how Family Friendly Gaming is run.
The editor believes in family first, and there is nothing that happens
at work that is an emergency. After all no lives are at stake, and no
planes will fall out of the sky. I would like to see more games in this
franchise.
