I Spy Treasure Hunt
SCORE: 89
Be sure to check the ages on any Leapster video game before you give it to your child(ren). I Spy Treasure Hunt is designed for first graders through third graders. In terms of age that is ages six through nine. I did find that on the low end age (editor: meaning six), that there was not a lot of interest in I Spy Treasure Hunt. There are I Spy video games where the child must find certain images on a pictures, and there are other kinds of mini games. The child earns parts of a treasure map in I Spy Treasure Hunt. Then they can follow the pirates’ maps, go on scavenger hunts to find the treasure.
I really enjoyed the artistic look to many of the pictures, and the layering of hidden items. Scholastic does a nice job of providing a fun, and educational video game especially when it comes to the sounds. The directions given by the game prove a very intelligent design.
The hints button is very handy when any of the on screen directions confuse. There are some really fun mini games like the ice cream maker memory one (my name for it). I Spy Treasure Hunt will keep most children in the age range interested for quite awhile. Compared to Outwit! our son was not too enthused with I Spy Treasure Hunt. I think some of that has to do with the age range. Everything in I Spy Treasure Hunt controls the way it should.
This is the kind of a game that works on the Leapster,
and works even better on the Leapster2. All video games teach something,
so it is a treat for me to play a game like I Spy Treasure Hunt that
teaches good lessons.
