Dora the Explorer Dora Saves the Snow Princess
SCORE: 85
Dora the Explorer is back on the Nintendo DS in Dora the Explorer Dora saves the Snow Princess. A wicked witch is holding the Snow Princess hostage and not letting her smile. The only thing worse I can think of is being deprived of accessing Family Friendly Gaming (just joking ya'll). Dora and Boots elect themselves to go and save her. This is where this DS game starts to act like a television episode. The areas that have to be traversed in order to get to the final destination. Each area consists of different little mini games that Dora the Explorer instructs the player in. Children who enjoy the Hispanic themed show will really get into this video game.
The visuals are full of colors, and nice details. A winter themed game could have really skimped on the visuals, but thankfully 2K Play put some effort into Dora the Explorer Dora saves the Snow Princess. The little pictures of Dora and friends have some nice large graphics with excellent details, and the mini game play levels have a lot smaller graphics with much less details. I did not find any offensive graphical displays in this DS game.
The music in Dora the Explorer Dora saves the Snow Princess fits the magical theme of the subject matter. I love how encouraging this game is to the players. There is also some educational messages in Spanish in this DS game. In other words this game will teach the player certain phrases in Spanish.
The one drawback to Dora the Explorer Dora saves the Snow Princess is the replay. The main story mode is really short. Thankfully there are some mini games included that can keep children busy for a few hours more. The length of this game is the one thing keeping it back from reaching the next level.
I really enjoyed the simple controls in Dora the Explorer Dora saves the Snow Princess. The intelligent design to the levels is highly evident. I had fun playing this game, and children I let try it also liked it. Their one comment was they wanted more. Which is a nice little segway to the next paragraph.
Dora the Explorer Dora saves the Snow Princess deserves sequels,
especially if length is doubled. This is a good learning game based on a
kid friendly franchise. The one issue is the length, but for the right
price this would be a wonderful addition to plenty of families Nintendo
DS libraries. Vamonos amigos, let's go save the Snow Princess on the
Nintendo DS.
