Disney Friends

Disney Friends on the Nintendo DS is a difficult game to classify. The player is a guardian of well known Disney cartoon characters (Dora, Winnie the Pooh, Stitch, and Simba). There are different items to interact with them, and verbal sayings that they recognize. Disney also included mini games that can be played with the characters. Money is found and earned to purchase many of the items. Tinkerbell has a store, and offers training at the beginning of the game. Following Animal Crossing this is a game that can be played for a few minutes a day, and then left alone.

Disney Friends has a lot of animation, and looks good on the Nintendo DS. Each environment fits the theme of the character found within it. The little animations that the characters do are priceless. Especially Stitch licking the player. There is a little cartoon mischief, but at a way lower degree than in many of their movies.

The sound bytes in Disney Friends are also priceless. Any fan of these characters will immediately identify with what they have to say, and what the player can say to them. The little green guy from Toy Story knows words like Claw, Friend, and Oh (as an example). I did not notice any offensive sounds while playing Disney Friends.

Disney Friends includes an awesome array of collectible items. There are enough Disney characters to keep most kids interested for quite some time. I wish there had been more, but that is an adult talking. I also wanted to be able to progress the story faster than having to wait for the next day, but that is my personal impatience talking.

Disney Friends has so many different play mechanics that I am surprised Disney pulled it off so well. The microphone, touch screen, and controls are all used to the maximum. I had to play with some of the buttons to find the way to exit certain areas. Disney Friends on the DS is a fun little game to play, and children I let try it totally loved it. May not get it back from one of my kids ever.

It is simply spectacular to see a game like Disney Friends make it to market for the Nintendo DS. This is one amazing little interactive video game that kids will enjoy. I am an adult and I enjoyed playing Disney Friends. I really hope there are some sequels to this game, especially if there is some expansion on the amount of characters. Disney Friends is safe for the entire family.
