Classic British Motor Racing
SCORE: 62
Classic British Motor Racing on the Nintendo Wii is one of the more interesting racing games coming from Bold Games. This racing title uses small windy roads with small British cars. The feeling of speed in this video game is present, and reminds this reviewer of Speed Devils on the Sega Dreamcast. Although this racer is a lot more claustrophobic. This is another value priced title that can be found for twenty dollars or less brand new.
The vehicles have a nice shine to them, and the multiple paint jobs add a small degree of visual customization. The walls, and tracks themselves were a little bit bland. The vehicles can collide but no damage is shown. There are plenty of objects like trees, and road guards that I found myself stuck behind. I did not find any offensive images while playing Classic British Motor Racing.
There was some pretty nifty music playing in Classic British Motor Racing. I was digging that tune even though I was not familiar with the song or artist. It fit the British theme of this Wii game like a hand in a glove. I did not discover any offensive sounds while playing Classic British Motor Racing.
This video game is probably the most difficult racing game I have ever played. Especially the first race track that Classic British Motor Racing has. There are some unlockables, but they did not seem to control any differently to me. I would say pass on this one, unless you want an extremely challenging racing game on the Wii.
The controls in Classic British Motor Racing are a little touchy, and I even tried using a Wii racing wheel. There are way too may places to get stuck, and the only solution is to restart the race. This frustration increased when I wound up facing a lot of walls, and backing into the other racers. This is not my idea of fun personally. The high point to me was being able to run over sign posts and keep going.
A sequel to Classic
British Motor Racing would be welcome to this reviewer if the controls
are tweaked, and the tracks are redesigned. The computer cars could run
near perfect laps whereas I would just fall farther behind with each and
every mistake. Maybe the British like to be pawned in their video games,
but I don’t. Classic British Motor Racing is safe for the entire family.
