Civilization Revolution
SCORE: 85
Sid Meier’s Civilization has been well liked by many strategic gamers for quite some time now. Civilization Revolution on the Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 is a worthy successor to the series on the home consoles. Players colonize areas, build cities, conquer their neighbors, build technology, and have multiple paths to victory. Players can achieve that victory through culture, domination (military), economic, and technology (sending a space ship to Alpha Centauri). This choice of how to beat the game is one of the reasons the series has been so popular over the years.
Civilization Revolution looks crisp and clear with nice 3D models of the troops, cities, and equipment. One interesting factor is seeing how a civilization progresses through the different eras of history. There is violence in Civilization Revolution as the armies battle it out. Thankfully it is very light, and the guys fall down and disappear. There is no gore, or blood - in fact the armies rarely seem to ever touch one another. There are a few female characters who are dressed in an enticement to lust manner like Cleopatra.
The audio region of Civilization Revolution is pretty cool. The music is nice, and the reward sounds are great. Players make achievements throughout the game, and the special effect sounds reflect that quite well. There is the clanging of weapons, and gun fire sounds heard in this video game as well. All of these sounds fit the theme of this video game perfectly.
With things like leaderboards, game of the week, and sixteen different civilizations to conquer with there is a lot of replay value in Civilization Revolution. If you like to see how things develop, experiment, and strategize then Civilization Revolution is well worth your dinero.
All of the commands are given to the player at the beginning of the game, in the manual, and when it comes to troop movement on the screen. Civilization Revolution has a definite intelligent design when it comes to how this video game controls. Most of the game defaults to the next city, troop, whatever is of next importance. I had a lot of fun playing Civilization Revolution, and have a sneaky suspicion that you will as well.
The choices 2K Game gives
players in how to beat the game is spectacular. One could be a defensive
power, and work on culture. Getting to find things like the Ark of the
Covenant is also welcome here at Family Friendly Gaming. Alcohol, and
tobacco are both minor parts of this home console video game, but they
are present.
