Bratz Girlz Really Rock
SCORE: 63
Bratz Girls Really Rock on the Nintendo DS has the honor of bad timing.
With the debt bubble bursting, and families crimping down on spending, a
game that dwells on excessive shopping will probably not go over very
well. The depth of the Bratz girls in this video game is in a word -
shallow. What it comes down to for me is the target audience. I hope to
answer the question - are the lessons in Bratz Girls Really Rock
appropriate for young girls?
Bratz Girls Really Rock shocked me right out of the gate visually. The
anorexic looking girls were dressed in a way that sends the wrong
message to young men. It also makes them look desperate, and they have
no respect for their own bodies. On the plus side there are some cute
looking little animals that can be pets. The 3D graphics look okay, and
the camera behaves in this DS game.
I really wish this game had taught young girls to be content with what
they have in life. Bratz Girls Really Rock teaches you deserve to dress
nicely, and to play games to get the finances for it. The attitudes of
the Bratz Girls was the biggest problem I found. They are positive, but
self absorbed most of the time. The music was okay. It did not annoy me,
nor did it make me want to sit there and listen to it.
The mini games in Bratz Girls Really Rock add some replay value. There
are plenty of characters to play, and wardrobe items to purchase
(editor: and wear). Most of the mini games are pretty simple, and easy.
Be sure to read the instructions as a few of them can be long if not
done properly.
The controls in Bratz Girls Really Rock exhibit an intelligent design.
Family Friendly Gaming has been very supportive of video games on the
Nintendo DS that allow controls of both the touch screen, and the D-pad.
Bratz Girls Really Rock allows for both type of controls. This
versatility goes a long way to be more inclusive. I had some fun playing
Bratz Girls Really Rock.
I have already mentioned the moral, and ethical issues I have with Bratz
Girls Really Rock. I would like to see some sequels to this franchise,
especially if it becomes more targeted to America. This is the kind of a
game that follows the out of touch Hollywood culture. The thing is that
culture has been exposed as problematic across the vast majority of
America.
