Meet the Robinsons
SCORE: 80
Meet the Robinsons on the Nintendo Wii has quite a few tie ins with
the Disney movie. Players get to take on the role of Wilbur in the
future, and perform a variety of duties. Many of these duties involve
helping others in his family, and then later correcting the time line.
The Bowler Hat Guy is up to no good, and Wilbur must stop him.
Graphically Meet the
Robinsons animates quite nicely. There are quite a few bright colors in
many of the levels. The details, and 3D models are done in a very
artistic manner. The game does include animated blood, and cartoon
violence. Wilbur has a couple of weapons he can use in this E10+ rated
video game. The robotic ants explode when hit by a certain weapon.
Certain puzzles can not be solved until all of the enemies are
disintegrated. The camera is controlled by the Wii Remote, and this gave
me some problems. I did not always have a steady hand, which led to some
occasional confusion.
The theme song to this
game really got into my head. There is something about that little ditty
that just stayed with me. I found the music to be upbeat, and energetic.
The sound effects work well in Meet the Robinsons, even the shooting
weapon sounds. All of the voice acting is done very top notch as well.
There is a nice amount of
things that can be found in out of the way places in the extras section
of this game. Art work of the characters, little movies, mini games,
etc. The amount of game play in this game is at the level of other movie
based video games. Meet the Robinsons is a little more difficult than I
expected it to be, but it has hints that can be gotten with the pressing
of a button. If you are into the movie, then you will want to consider a
purchase of this game.
The set up of the controls
in Meet the Robinsons on the Wii is well done. The level designs are in
some areas amazingly intelligent. The only gripe I have is having more
weapons than slots. In later levels this led to a lot of weapon
swapping, which really slowed down the action in the game. Having to
think about how to solve different puzzles is a lot of fun, at least to
me.
I really like how Wilbur
does so many chores to help out those in need. I don’t like how he is
deceptive to his father when he tries to fix one of his mistakes. Disney
did a lot of interesting things with this game, and the future concepts
they have are fascinating. More good than bad in my humble opinion.
