Konami Kids Playground Toy Pals Fun with Number
SCORE: 90
There has been some tremendous growth in the region of pre school gaming. I know some people are freaked out by this, and others are encouraged. I feel that anything that helps our kids learn is a good thing. Mix that in with video games being used to teach appropriate lessons, and that is an even better thing. Konami Kids Playground Toy Pals Fun with Numbers is an excellent Playstation 2 video game that can assist in teaching your child numbers. There are twelve mini games that range from the targeted ages of two through five years old. The ESRB rated this game ‘E’ for Everyone with the descriptor being Edutainment. This game also works with the controller mat which is sold separately.
The graphics in Toy Pals Fun With Numbers are all very bright and colorful. The different characters are all very cute, and cuddly. I would not be surprised to see a stuff animal toy line come out based on them. The characters animate nicely, and are almost always smiling. One mini game has the player hitting a glass container to free a number with a large hammer. I found nothing wrong with it personally.
The sound department of Toy Pals Fun With Numbers is exceptional. Too many video game developers expect a basic reading ability of pre schoolers. Konami thought through this problem (editor: or has been reading Family Friendly Gaming) and have the instructions completely verbal. The characters are encouraging even when mistakes are made.
There is plenty of replayability in these mini games, and the awesome part is your children will be learning basic numbers, and addition. Not a lot to unlock, but there is enough to keep children entertained for quite awhile.
Toy Pals Fun With Numbers is playable with a PS2 controller, but the Controller Mat is really needed to get the proper jumping experience which is intended. The verbal instructions are also all geared towards the images on the mat as well. If you do not get the mat then be prepared to help your children with how to use the controller.
I love games like this
one. Children learn wonderful things, and they expend energy while doing
it. More games like this one are needed, and pastors should look into
investing into this one.
