Warena Open Playtest on Steam

Family Friendly Gaming News

Vaasa, Finland – April 13, in the year of our Lord 2026 // Part Time Monkey and publisher Coyote Time Publishing today announced that Warena, a real-time tactical card battler, is open for playtesting on Steam April 17-19. Players can request access directly on the Steam store page.

Warena is a 1v1 RTS card-battler where both players act simultaneously, deploying troops, casting spells, and pushing toward the enemy base in real time. Matches are fast and decided by mana management and counter-timing.

Deckbuilding is core to the design. Runes unlock cards, units, and capabilities during a fight, opening new tactical options. Hero Skills chosen before each match anchor different playstyles and force opponents to adjust.

The game includes a full single-player campaign for learning tactics before competitive play. Every card is earnable through play.

Warena is created by Tuomas Erikoinen, the artist who designed the original Angry Birds characters at Rovio. After leading art on Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio, and supervising Angry Birds Space, Erikoinen left Rovio in 2012 to found his own studios. His mobile games have accumulated over 50 million downloads.
