HiveTide Releases

Family Friendly Gaming News

Marau, Brazil — November 3, in the year of our Lord 2026 — TessaroApps today launched Hivetide on Steam, an incremental tower defense set on an alien world. Players hold a single extraction rig against thousands of insects that pour through the rock tunnels with no fixed path, finding a way around every blocked corridor.

Every stage is a shift at the extractor: keep it standing until it can be pulled out, spend what you harvested, and go back down. Towers can only be placed on high ground, on solid rock beside a tunnel, and players drag the edges of each firing arc to decide what it covers. Rock blocks line of sight, so a strong gun in a poor spot does nothing, though any tower can be picked up mid-fight and relocated at the cost of a few seconds.

Players choose from eight towers, including the Tesla, Flamethrower, Cryostat, Railgun, and Missile Launcher, and every world has weather that favors some weapons and punishes others. Wind bends grenades on the Surface, damp soaks the powder in the Colony, heat suits fire in the Royal Chamber, and the Core's magnetic field throws guided shots off course. Each attempt also draws a random weather event that can turn halfway through a fight.

The campaign spans four worlds and 40 stages, each with its own map, a mini-boss, and a final boss: the Millipede, the Acid Slug, the Drill Worm, and the Wasp Empress. One stage per world breaks the usual rules, with two extractors to defend, a blackout that leaves towers nearly blind, a swarm that flies over the walls, or a collapse that never stops. When things go wrong, players can call on a Missile, an Airstrike, an Orbital Laser, or one map-wide Nuke per stage, and pause at any time to aim them.

Every run pays biomass, win or lose, which feeds a large upgrade tree covering each tower, extractor armor, harvesting, and the abilities themselves. After a defeat, a report shows which insect did the damage, which tower sat idle, and how much the weather cost.

Co-op, Duels, and Siege The whole campaign can be played in two-player online co-op through Steam, with a four-letter room code.

Half Sight: each player sees and builds on only half the map
Two Extractors: one to defend per player, on the same map
Duel: compete on the same stage with the same upgrade tree
Siege: build your own wave on a campaign map and share it by code
