Family Friendly Gaming News
London, UK — 9 September in the year of our Lord 2026
— To free the present, one must save the past... Marvelous Europe
announces Eternal Anima, a brand-new RPG created by acclaimed genre
veterans such as director Katsuhisa Higuchi, story concept writer
Keisuke Makino, and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, during today’s
Nintendo Direct. In development for Nintendo Switch™ 2,
PlayStation®5, XBOX Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam, Eternal
Anima will launch worldwide on 4 March 2027. Originally teased under
the working title “PROJECT LIFE is RPG” in 2023, Eternal Anima
evokes the spirit of late 1990s and early 2000s JRPGs, while
featuring an ambitious time-travelling narrative, modern visuals,
and strategic twists on traditional turn-based gameplay. The
publisher also shared an all-new, extended trailer for Eternal
Anima, giving a closer look at this dramatic adventure.
Yearning for a better future is considered a capital offence in the
kingdom of Urvis Ael. After Wade questions this key tenet of his
society, he finds himself on the run in an era-spanning adventure
that challenges his core beliefs and reveals an unknown world filled
with hidden truths. Alongside an eclectic group of new allies trying
to survive a dangerous journey, Wade must travel through time to
save civilisations of the past from catastrophes and unravel the
secrets of a lost history.
With Wade's powers of Psychometry, decipher past memories that dwell
within objects, and inherit Abilities and Classes in combat. Use
Future Sight in battle to predict when enemies will act and what the
outcome will be each turn. Choose your commands strategically, and
you can rewrite the future Wade predicted — Prepare for incoming
attacks or act first to prevent enemy actions entirely. Crafted by a
team of acclaimed RPG veterans, featuring gorgeous visuals inspired
by the golden age of RPGs, and designed with modern sensibilities,
Eternal Anima is an epic where players must save the past to free
the present.
Key Features
Dramatic Adventure Connecting Generations: Journey across multiple
continents with distinct cultures, and team up with ancestors and
descendants across time. Discover how actions in the past affect the
present, and empower allies with the abilities of their ancestors.
Predict the Future to Control the Battle: Classic turn-based combat
with a tactical twist: Future Sight. Predict enemy actions, then
strategise to counter them. Player commands can delay or cancel
enemy moves, allowing them to dictate the flow of battle.
Inherit Abilities That Transcend Eras: Harness Wade’s power of
Psychometry to decipher memories by drawing on the power within
artefacts, and inherit the abilities and classes of heroes from the
past. Combine them to find a unique playstyle to tackle the
challenges ahead.
A Brand-New Legacy-Driven RPG: Dedicated to JRPG fans and inspired
by the golden era of RPGs, Eternal Anima is a visually rich epic
that combines retro charm with modern design — all crafted by genre
legends alongside the next generation of RPG creators.
