EMUUROM Releases
Family Friendly Gaming News
Vaasa, Finland – May 25, in the year of our Lord 2026
– Indie developer borbware and publisher Coyote Time Publishing are
proud to announce that EMUUROM, a mysterious creature-scanning
metroidvania centered around discovery and experimentation, is now
available on Steam. Developed solo by Perttu Tuovinen over the
course of eight years, EMUUROM is a deeply handcrafted exploration
experience built around observation, secrets, and player-driven
discovery.
Set within an ancient paradise on the verge of being lost forever,
EMUUROM invites players to uncover the secrets of a strange
interconnected world populated by bizarre creatures known as
EMUUROMs. Using a scanner beam, players must observe, document, and
understand the behaviors of these creatures in order to reveal
hidden pathways, solve puzzles, and gradually unlock the deeper
layers of the world.
Unlike traditional metroidvanias focused on combat upgrades and
explicit guidance, EMUUROM emphasizes curiosity, deduction, and
experimentation. Every scan contributes new information to the
in-game EMUUDEX, a growing database of creature knowledge that
players must use to connect clues and decipher the world’s hidden
logic.
The game embraces a “no hand-holding” design philosophy, encouraging
players to rely entirely on their own observations and reasoning.
Secrets are layered throughout the world, often hidden in plain
sight, rewarding attentive exploration and careful thinking.
Its distinctive retro presentation comes from being developed within
the constraints of the TIC-80 fantasy console, giving EMUUROM a
minimalistic pixel-art aesthetic and an authentic old-school
atmosphere. Despite fitting inside just 3MB, the game offers tens of
hours of handcrafted metroidvania gameplay.
