Crystant Releases on Steam
Family Friendly Gaming News
September 23, in the year of our Lord 2026 -- After
a period of Early Access development and continuous updates,
independent game studio Dawner Game Studio is pleased to announce
that Crystant, a strategic post-apocalyptic survival game,
officially launched its 1.0 version on September 21, 2026.
Crystant combines board game-style map exploration, turn-based
tactical combat, and Roguelite elements into a post-apocalyptic
survival strategy experience. Players take on the role of a test
subject attempting to escape an underground research facility
overrun by mutated creatures. With limited resources and unexpected
events constantly standing in their way, every decision can mean the
difference between life and death. As players progress through the
game, they will gradually uncover the truth behind the catastrophe
that brought about the apocalypse.
Board Game-Style Map Exploration
At the heart of Crystant's exploration system is a board game-style
map made up of interconnected tiles. Players begin in an unknown
area shrouded in fog, gradually revealing new tiles and deciding for
themselves which direction to take. Every move requires careful
consideration of time costs and the condition of the team. As the
map unfolds, players will encounter a variety of events and
challenges.
Turn-Based Tactical Combat
When enemies are encountered during exploration, the game
transitions into turn-based tactical combat. Different enemies have
their own unique traits and weaknesses, requiring players to adapt
to the battlefield, coordinate their team, and make effective use of
different character classes and weapon combinations to gain the
upper hand. Beyond their characters' abilities, players can also use
a variety of items to deal devastating damage to their enemies.
Roguelite Progression with Story Objectives
As test subjects within the research facility, players will venture
deep underground, gathering scattered clues and information to
gradually piece together the truth behind the catastrophe that
devastated the world.
When an expedition fails, players do not lose everything they have
worked for. Through the game's Roguelite permanent progression
system, experience and in-game currency accumulated during each run
can be used for progression between runs, strengthening characters
and unlocking new classes. Every failure becomes the foundation for
the next attempt, allowing players to gradually venture into more
dangerous depths and draw closer to the truth behind the
catastrophe.
Deep Strategy and Resource Management
Resources are extremely limited within the underground facility. In
addition to managing equipment, materials, and food in their
inventory, players must constantly monitor three key aspects of
their team: stamina, hunger, and morale.
Moving, exploring, and fighting all consume these resources. Players
must constantly assess the condition of their team and decide
whether to push forward or conserve their resources. Venturing
deeper into unknown areas may uncover more valuable information, but
it can also consume additional time and supplies. When the risks of
a direct confrontation become too high, knowing when to retreat can
be just as important as knowing when to fight.
A Unique Authorization System
As exploration progresses, players will gain access to the
facility's special Authorization System. By restarting
malfunctioning facilities and restoring system functions, players
can gradually unlock new abilities and features that can further
change how they approach subsequent expeditions.
Different unlocking orders can lead to different playstyles and
strategies. Players can choose which functions to restore first
based on their preferred approach, allowing each playthrough to
develop along a different progression path.
