Knights Province launches Alpha 13

Family Friendly Gaming News

December 24, in the year of our Lord 2025 - Just in time for the Christmas season, Knights Province reaches a major development milestone with the release of Alpha 13, the major update after two years since previous Alpha 12. Following the previous Alpha 12 release, this new version delivers substantial technical, visual, and gameplay advancements — most notably, the long-anticipated arrival of multiplayer.

Alpha 13 marks the first step into multiplayer gameplay, allowing players to experience Knights Province cooperatively or competitively. Alongside this, the update deepens mission scripting and storytelling tools, improves performance, and enhances audio and visuals — all pushing the game closer to a fully realized Real-Time Strategy experience.

Key Features in Alpha 13

Multiplayer - Players can now join online servers to play together, engage in PvP or cooperative matches, or spectate ongoing games. Maps and save files can be shared easily between players, making multiplayer sessions accessible and flexible.

Expanded Mission Design and Storytelling - New animated map objects and addon objects empower mapmakers to create more dynamic scenarios. Heroic unit support introduces unique unit identities with custom names, stats, morale, and behaviors, greatly expanding creative freedom for scripted missions.

New Neutral Enemies - Skeletons emerge as a new neutral threat, unaffected by hunger or morale. These units introduce fresh tactical challenges and add a darker tone to select missions and campaigns.

New Campaign: Burning Hay - A brand-new eight-mission campaign by Amaroth. Designed to be story-heavy and challenging, the campaign places players in the middle of a sudden civil war from the perspective of an inexperienced knight. New single-player and multiplayer maps are included as well.

Visual Improvements - Forests now feature fully reworked foliage, significantly improving the environmental atmosphere. Combined with new terrain surfaces and adjustable sun settings, map creators can fine-tune lighting and mood like never before.

Performance, Graphics, and Audio Enhancements - Alpha 13 introduces rendering optimizations, an updated sound engine, and a revamped text renderer supporting mixed styles such as color, underline, and strikethrough.

Improved Localization Support - New alphanumeric localization keys streamline translations for missions and addons. Greek localization has been added.

Additional Improvements - Semi-automatic highscore verification via Knight Tavern, Savegames bundled into a single, shareable file, Numerous smaller fixes and quality-of-life improvements
A full changelog is available in-game at startup and through the Options menu.

Looking Ahead to Alpha 14

While Alpha 13 is a major step forward, several systems are still in development before Knights Province can transition to Beta. Planned areas of focus for Alpha 14 include:

- Animal breeding systems (horses and farm animals)
- Stronger walls and improved AI behavior
- Player-to-player trade systems
- Siege machinery
- Additional buildings, units, animations, and assets
