Yashi Sand Driver Announced
Family Friendly Gaming News
Toulouse, France, July 28, in the year of our Lord 2026
- Oneiric Worlds, the French solo dev studio behind the beloved
Zelda-like Zefyr: A Thief's Melody, is thrilled to announce
Yashi - Sand Driver, a cozy survival-crafting road trip through
the desert where you upgrade your van and travel with your
faithful coyote in search of humanity's last sanctuary.
Yashi - Sand Driver was born from a desire to create a pure
exploration experience where the desert itself becomes the main
challenge. Through its quiet journey of solitude and minimalist
survival, the game invites players to experience a longing to
reconnect with a long-lost nature and with humanity itself.

A Relaxing & Meditative Journey
In an endless desert, you are Yashi, a lone survivor... until a
mysterious radio signal changes everything. Somewhere beyond the
horizon lies New Eden, perhaps the last refuge where humanity
may still endure. Jump in your van with your faithful coyote,
drive across the wasteland, survive the heat, scavenge
resources, craft tools, brave the elements, and find your way to
New Eden in this feel-good road trip.
Yashi - Sand Driver is designed as a short but soothing journey
where you'll experience the loneliness and peace of a vast
desert. It is built around exploration, scavenging, and crafting
upgrades for your van. The game also offers survival mechanics,
but keeps them approachable for players of all ages. The desert
itself is your greatest challenge, where hunger, thirst, and the
elements constantly stand in your way.
Core Gameplay
Drive and Explore
Discover the vast wilderness of the desert. Drive your van
across treacherous terrain, overcome obstacles, and venture
through winding canyons and towering peaks.
Survive the Desert
Search for food and water, and manage your resources carefully
to withstand the relentless heat. Oases can offer relief along
the way, but venturing into the unknown without preparation can
be risky.
Scavenge and Craft
Salvage metal from abandoned vehicles, search ruined cities for
valuable supplies, gather vegetation, and recover useful
materials. Combine your finds to upgrade your van and unlock
powerful abilities, from enhanced jump and mid-air control to
turbo boost and harpoon.
Brave the Elements
Face raging sandstorms, lightning strikes, hurricanes, and
deadly chasms. Every obstacle can stop your journey—or push you
to find a new path forward.
Find Your Way to New Eden
Follow the mysterious radio signal from New Eden to chart its
location. Navigate the desert, uncover its secrets, and reach
the community that awaits you.

The Developer
Mathias, the solo developer behind the game, shares his story:
"Like many, my love for video games began in childhood, back in
the '90s. I've always been fascinated by their creative
potential. Since then, I've spent all my free time making my own
games."
He adds, "After spending 12 years creating Zefyr, I wanted to
make something smaller, calmer, and more focused on exploration.
Yashi is my vision of a peaceful road trip where the desert
itself becomes your companion. As always with my creations, I
will try to strike a nice balance of adventure, humor, and
feel-good vibes."
